The Oscars

You'd think that after more than three hours and 15 minutes the Academy could have figured out a way to settle on a clear-cut champion of the 2008 Oscars. But, nooooo. Tonight, the Academy chose to spread the wealth. Sure, No Country for Old Men led the way with four wins — for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor. And, sure, writer/ director/ producers/ brothers Joel and Ethan Coen each took home three trophies. But each Best Picture nominee (No Country for Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Juno, Atonement, and Michael Clayton) scored at least one prize, and the evening's second-highest total, three Oscars, was bestowed upon none other than the summer action flick The Bourne Ultimatum (for Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing).
